Katy Trail State Park

Katy Trail State Park is a rail trail across Missouri on the former Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad corridor, from Machens near St. Louis to Clinton. Much of it runs beside the Missouri River, under limestone bluffs and past restored depots, wine towns such as Hermann and Rocheport, and the state capital, Jefferson City, on the opposite bank.

Before you go
Missouri State Parks lists 240 miles between Clinton and Machens, with 26 trailheads and a packed crushed-limestone surface. The trail is flat but exposed: summer heat, wind and flooding of the river bottoms can affect plans, so check the park's trail conditions page. Services are concentrated in trail towns; water points are not everywhere. Amtrak's Missouri River Runner stops near several trailheads, subject to bicycle reservations.
