One button turns the planning map from 2D into 3D terrain: mountains and valleys in relief, a photograph of the landscape, and the same route in front of you, by bike or on foot.
Passes, ridges, valleys and hillsides stand out in relief under the track: you see at a glance where the route climbs, where it follows a lake and where it drops into the next valley.

A view that tilts and turns
The 3D terrain panel sets the tilt, from flat up to 75°, and the bearing through 360°; the background shows aerial or satellite imagery, or the OpenStreetMap map if you prefer it.

The same tools as in 2D
Start, finish, waypoints, drawing and section selection stay in sync; the elevation profile stays on screen, along with place names, summits, services and your favourites.

Switch back without losing anything
The 2D button brings back the usual map with the same route. Your account can remember, on this device, which view opens first; if you choose nothing, the map stays in 2D on OpenStreetMap. Guidance on the ground runs on the 2D map.
Yes: the terrain view opens for signed-in Vistavel accounts. Without an account, planning stays complete in 2D, with the elevation profile, climbs and gradients.
What happens if the terrain does not load?
The 3D view depends on your device's graphics capabilities, the network and the terrain and imagery providers. If something fails, the map returns to 2D with the same route and a message. Neither an aerial image nor an elevation model guarantees that a passage is passable: check on site.
